The slopes of the hills are ravaged by the streams particularly during the Monsoons. The soil and stones on the sides or banks of the streams are cut and eroded by the force of the cascading water causing landslides. This renders the whole ecosystem vulnerable and adversely affects all forms of life. To counter the effect of such natural damage locally, cost effective micro measures have to be put in place.
The need for immediate intervention has given birth to the Jhora Improvement Scheme that has been conceived and announced by the Honourable Chief Minister.
The scheme has been formulated for the primary objective to preserve ecological balance, control surface erosion, prevent landslides particularly during the Monsoons, utilise precious water productively for irrigation and drinking purposes and for development as recreational spots.
